Lead Pastor

Ancil Abney has been the Lead Pastor at The Church at Bradenton since 1999 after leading a church in Lexington, KY for 9 1/2 years.  He and his wife (Kathy) have been married for 28 years and are the parents of three sons Austin, AJ, and Andrew.


Ancil is originally from Lexington, KY where he attended the University of Kentucky before transferring to Warner Southern College (now Warner University) in Lake Wales, FL.  He graduated from Warner in 1983 with a BA in Church Ministries. 


Kathy, originally from Kettering, OH is also a graduate of Warner with a BA in Elementary Education, and Georgetown College with a MA in Elementary Education.  Ancil strives to bring God's truth to people in a way that is clear, understandable and applicable to everyday life.

Personal recommendation ... get to know yourself well ... and be honest about what you find.  We cannot make appropriate changes in our lives until we become honest with ourselves about who we really are.

Outside of church life, the Abney's enjoy traveling, spending time with their sons and their wives, friends and shopping (Kathy for clothes, Ancil for cars).
